Jim Callane
Career Highlights
Jim Callane is well-known in the sports community as the former basketball coach of the Haworth Huskies and athletic director at Kokomo High School.
The longtime educator arrived at Haworth in 1976 and led the squad until the school merged with Kokomo in 1984. He also spent two seasons as the assistant Kokomo basketball coach following the merger.
Callane took over the Wildkats athletic program in 1987, and during his 18-year tenure he earned the Charles F. Maus Distinguished Service Award three times and was the Athletic Director of the Year in District II in 1997.
While leading the Kokomo athletic department, the Wildkats won five North Central Conference All-Sports Awards, five IHSAA team state championships, six state runners-up finishes and 11 individual state titles.
He is also widely considered the architect of several major upgrades to KHS athletic facilities, including the addition of the soccer complex.
Callane is a 2008 inductee into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and a 2002 member of the DePauw Athletics Hall of Fame after enjoying a successful high school and college basketball career.
