Career Highlights

Jenna Tarkington-Mumaw is the best gymnast in Howard County history and one of the most successful athletes to ever participate at Northwestern High School.  She is a member of the Northwestern Athletic Hall of Fame.

From 1999-2003, she won six IHSAA gymnastics medals and was the 2002 floor exercise state champion with a score of 9.575 as a junior.

In her senior season, Tarkington-Mumaw was the state runner-up in all-around and on the beam while finishing fourth on the floor, sixth on the vault and seventh on the bars.

During her career, she reached the IHSAA state finals 18 times. She is considered the most decorated Northwestern student-athlete in history with 17 Mid-Indiana Conference, 16 sectional and nine regional championships.

On the amateur circuit, Tarkington-Mumaw helped lead her club to the 2003 U.S. Amateur Gymnastics team state championship. Also in 2003, she earned USAG Level 9 Eastern Senior C national championships on the beam, floor and all-around.

At Ball State University, she was a two-time Mid-American Conference champion on the vault, winning in 2004 and 2007. At the time of induction, she held the school’s all-time best score of 9.9 on the beam and second-best score of 9.95 on the vault.
