Mick Owens earned a berth in the Howard County Sports Hall of Fame as both a baseball coach and longtime contributor to local athletics.
The founder of Creative Financial Designs in Kokomo, Owens has supported local athletes, teams and programs for decades. From scoreboards to team sponsorships, Owens and the cfd brand have helped hundreds of athletes enjoy successful athletic seasons.
Owens was a standout baseball player, playing for Indiana State University and the Kokomo Highlanders before an injury ended his career. After his playing career ended, Owens began coaching and eventually founded the semi-professional cfd Saints, which called Kokomo home from 1989-2002. During a 14-year career, Owens led the Saints to more than 400 victories, two berths in the National Baseball Congress World Series and one appearance in the United States Baseball Congress World Series. The Saints also won a pair of Indiana semi-pro state championships and three tri-state titles.
Owens was inducted into the Indiana Semi-Professional Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006 and the National Semi-Professional Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013.
