Career Highlights

Kokomo High School’s Kevin Lechner was one of the best all-around three-sport athletes that ever put on a Kokomo uniform, excelling in baseball, basketball, and football from 1978-1982. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 6 team from 1980-1982. Kevin continued his athletic career at Wabash College from 1982-1986 where he played football and baseball.

Lechner left KHS as the school’s all-time leading passer in yardage. He is still in the top five in 18 statistical passing categories. To date, Kevin is still Kokomo’s most accurate passer– holding the top spot in season completion percentage (59.1 in 1981) and career completion percentage (55.1). He also led KHS to two straight victories over arch-rival Haworth High School. In those games, he tossed seven touchdowns and won a pair of coveted Golden Helmet awards in 1980 and 1981.

In American Legion Post 6 baseball, he played third base and pitched on Post 6’s most successful team of all-time in 1982. His squad won the Indiana State Championship, Great Lakes Regional Championship, and finished fourth in the American Legion World Series.

At Wabash, Kevin still ranks in the top 20 in 10 statistical baseball categories.
