Career Highlights

Brett Etherington left his mark on basketball history at Western High School. A 1987 graduate, he was the first and is still the only boy to wear the black and white Panther uniform and then be an Indiana All-Star, earning the selection after three seasons as a Western starter. During his junior and senior campaigns, Etherington led Western to a 33-11 record while finishing his high school career with 932 career points and 582 rebounds.

Upon graduation, Etherington went on to play basketball for four years at Butler University, the first two seasons for coach Joe Sexson and the final two for coach Barry Collier. As a senior, Etherington averaged 12.5 points, two assists, and six rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free throw line as the Bulldogs went 18-11, earning a bid to the 1991 National Invitation Tournament. Etherington’s eight steals versus Wisconsin on December 15, 1990, remain a Butler single-game record.

Over his four-year collegiate career, Etherington played in 103 of the Bulldogs’ 113 games, scoring 627 points and collecting 339 rebounds while shooting 44 percent from the field and 79 percent from the charity stripe.
