Tim McFarland
Career Highlights
Tim McFarland was a star for the Kokomo Wildkats from his first game as a freshman, having the unofficial distinction of being the only Kat player in history to start every game during his four-year varsity career. McFarland is most remembered for his team-first approach to the game of basketball.
Having answered the opening tip in 97 games as a starter, the 6-foot-1 McFarland scored 1,270 career points, which was the fourth-best in Kokomo history at the time of his Hall of Fame induction. McFarland also ranked second in assists with 595 which is yet another example of his team-first approach. McFarland collected 525 career rebounds and led Kokomo to a 66-31 record from 1972-1976. His Kats won four sectional championships during his four years as a key contributor and were 7-1 against cross-city rival Haworth while playing for Howard County Sports Hall of Fame coach Carl McNulty. Coach McNulty described McFarland as “a true team player. He knew he did not have to score a lot of points, but what he did was make his teammates better. It takes a certain kind of kid who likes to pass the ball and that was Tim.”
McFarland was an all-North Central Conference performer in 1976 as the Kats earned a share of the NCC title.
