A2023 University of Saint Francis (USF) Hall of Fame inductee, Kokomo High School girls’ basketball great Skylarr Shurn left an impressive legacy on the college hardwood, leading USF to an undefeated season and its first NAIA Division II championship as a senior in 2013-14. Shurn was the first member of the Lady Cougars basketball program to earn the NAIA Player of the Year honor and was also named the Crossroads League Player of the Year. She was named Most Valuable Player at the 2014 NAIA Division II Women’s National Basketball Championship and was selected to the All-Tournament First Team after scoring 30 points in the title game. A scoring threat also capable of dishing the ball at the collegiate level, Shurn finished her college career with 1,289 points, 200 steals, and 219 assists. Shurn posted double digits in 34 games during her senior season, including six games of 30-plus points, as she led the NAIA in scoring with 780 points, setting a USF single season record. Shurn ranked individually in multiple top-50 categories for women’s hoops as a senior. At Kokomo, Shurn averaged 17.2 points per game in her senior season. In three years of varsity action with the Lady Kats, Shurn averaged 11.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. She shot 47.5 percent from the field, hitting 35.1 percent of her 3-point attempts.
